Welcome to the first edition of KAA-BOOM, a new, monthly newsletter filled with information on how organizations can protect their most valuable resource – their older workers.

It's no secret why so many organizations are now finding it difficult to attract highly-skilled, experienced staff -- it's demographics. The largest generation in history -- the Baby Boomers - are starting to leave the workforce in their millions and there are simply not enough younger skilled workers available to replace them.

But the issue goes far beyond merely finding new people to fill vacancies. It's far more ominous. It's about knowledge that's lost forever. [Read more]

The Boomers have had an explosive effect on Western society since they first appeared in the late 1940s. They're now wreaking havoc in the workplace. Those Baby Boomers have evolved into KAA-Boomers.

With Canada facing an imminent shortage in the next 3 years, organizations in every sector are taking a more strategic view to workforce planning. And what is strategic workforce planning? It’s identifying, assessing, developing and sustaining the workforce skills needed to meet business goals today and tomorrow. It’s about identifying emerging skills gaps and creating strategies to fill those gaps. It’s about attracting, retaining, developing and motivating excellent employees.
